How to Manage Your Time - No Matter What! - The Universal Law of Time

How to Manage Your Time - No Matter What! - The Universal Law of Time
By Frank Coppola

Time is one of the key concerns for us especially in this Decade of Distraction. In fact, the two most important concerns for all people are freedom and time.

I like to keep things simple. Here is something to ponder - The Universal Law of Time. If you think about this and use it, you cannot help but be on time. It does entail reflection before implementation which leads to action and with practice being on time. Time is not about seconds, minutes, hours, years, etc. The ability to be on time is dependent upon what matters most to you!

We find ourselves detained, late, and missing from action and repeat offenders of lost time. "I keep missing my appointments." "What do I need to do?" "My wife has given up on me." "What's wrong with me?" "I just bought a fabulous watch." "Where's my watch?"

Still we're never late for the things that make us feel. What matters most gets us to our destination on time: no matter what! Time is measured by our concerns at the moment. Ask yourself, what matters most. Then show up!

Sometimes we just don't know what matters most to us. How many times have you had so many things to get done, you just don't know where to begin? How many times have you procrastinated?

If we are in the area of business, perhaps you have three clients looking for answers immediately. In addition to that, you must get your quarterlies to your accountant to taxes. Not only that on a personal note, you need to pick up something special for the person your most close to and you need also to make sure your son is picked up from school.

You know first and foremost, no matter what, you will be there on time for your son or you will make sure someone you trust without a doubt will be there to pick him up. Wouldn't you say that this is what matters most? Of course you do.

To determine what matters most;

  1. Make a list of all the things you must get completed in the day
  2. Choose no more than six and on a scale from one to six, estimate the amount of time needed to get each completed.
  3. Mark them in your calendar.
  4. Take the hardest one first. Do you ever notice how the hardest is last which seems to be put off to tomorrow? By taking the hardest and completing, you will most likely have momentum to complete the others.
  5. Set a time to speak with your emergencies each day. Excuse yourself by explaining their problem entails special consideration.
  6. Pick a time each day to answer emails.

7 Secrets to Creating More Time

7 Secrets to Creating More Time

7 Secrets to Creating More Time
By Melanie Yost

Time Management is a concern for most people these days. Searching the internet will produce many articles with wonderful tips and helpful hints on how to manage time. After reading them, I began to consider our belief systems about time. Can time really be managed?

David Cameron, in A Happy Pocketful of Money, explores the topic of time and what quantum physicists have to say about the nature of it. In his theory of relativity, Albert Einstein proved that time is relative and that time as we have defined it - consistent fixed increments that can be divided into past, present and future - does not really exist. He says "the distinction between past, present and future is only an illusion, however persistent." Ok, so if time is not comprised of consistent fixed increments, then what is it? Well, Cameron explains time as "the moving of your consciousness past pre-existing events in the space-time continuum."

What?!?!? Quantum physics says that everything that exists is energy. That means that our bodies, our thoughts, our emotions, and everything in our material world is energy. In fact, we literally live in a sea of energy. Imagine the ocean with its warm spots, cold spots, turbulent spots and currents. Water molecules are continually flowing in and out of those areas, but they maintain their characteristic warmth or coldness or turbulence or current. This is how we look at the quantum level. We are all energy, flowing in and out, fully connected together and yet maintaining our individual essences. So if we are constantly moving energy, then the field of life is not static and our consciousness is not moving at a fixed speed. Time is created in the mind. Our perception of time is based on our consciousness. The more expanded our consciousness is, the more expanded our perception of time becomes. Hung Tzu-ch'eng says "whether time is long or short, and whether space is broad or narrow, depends upon the mind. Those whose minds are at leisure can feel one day as a millennium, and those whose thoughts are expansive can perceive a small house to be as spacious as the universe." I have experienced this often. As a therapist, I work with guided imagery, hypnosis and other modalities that deeply relax a person and allow their consciousness to expand. In that expanded state, five minutes can feel like an entire hour and an hour can feel like it passed in the blink of an eye. Albert Einstein explained relativity of time this way: "When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, you think it's only a minute. But when you sit on a hot stove for a minute, you think it's two hours. That's relativity."

The fact that time is created in our mind is really wonderful information to have. We are the creators of our reality and so what we believe is what we create. Do you feel as if you don't have enough time to do the things you want and need to get done? Well, if you believe it, then it is true. When you think, speak and act on the belief that there is not enough time, then you are making your consciousness smaller and slower and you will experience what you believe to be true.

After exploring the nature of time, it seems that "time management" is really about "thought management". In order to expand consciousness and experience more time to do the things you desire to accomplish, try the following things:

• Affirm to yourself regularly that there is plenty of time for everything.

• Stop the mental chatter and worry about "not enough time" as soon as it begins.

• Take 3 deep abdominal breaths at the first sign of worry about time.

• Be grateful for and enjoy the present moment.

• Create a regular time to relax the mind and expand consciousness for 10 minutes at least once a day. If you have difficulty quieting the mental chatter, the easiest way to relax the mind is to focus. So, pick your favorite relaxing memory and focus on it in detail using all of your physical senses - what do you see, hear, feel, smell and taste?

• Create a list of your 6 most important things to do or create under the heading "I have plenty of time to complete the following".

• As you begin each task on your list, take 15 seconds and visualize how good it will feel to have it completed and feel the good feeling.

Top 3 Time Management Strategies For Achieving Your Goals

Top 3 Time Management Strategies For Achieving Your Goals

Top 3 Time Management Strategies For Achieving Your Goals
By Wendy Hearn

You may be a goal oriented person, but that does not necessarily mean that you have the time management strategies that are required in order to achieve those goals. Do you feel like you could use some assistance in developing better time management? While everyone may not be inherently good at managing their own time, there is no reason why you cannot teach yourself to manage your day better by employing the right strategies for efficient and effective time management. These three time-management strategies can be learned in order to help you better achieve the goals that you set out to accomplish.

1 - Prioritize.

The best way to meet your goals through the management of time is to prioritize all of the facets of your life. Prioritize the projects that you need to complete, the various tasks that exist within each of these individual projects, and your daily list of tasks to complete as well. By setting priorities for everything that you intend to accomplish in a day, you can be sure to accomplish the most important tasks, leaving the less important tasks for last. This is an excellent way to manage time and to ensure that your goals are met.

2 - Planning.

One of the best ways to manage your time for the achievement of your goals is to effectively plan out the things that need to be done, when those tasks need to be completed, and what is needed in order to accomplish those tasks. By putting some forethought into the tasks that you intend to complete, you can better prepare yourself for them. This way, as you address each task, you will be ready to complete it in a timely manner rather than scrambling around looking for necessary tools or equipment.

3 - Get a Clear Picture.

By creating a clear picture of the ways that you spend your time today, you can better make improvements on your time management skills. You can only make improvements in your time management strategies if you have a clear picture about what you are doing now and where improvements need to be made. If you do not have a clear picture of what you are doing, or more importantly, what you are doing wrong, there is no way for you to know where improvements need to be made.

Best Time Management Tips - Part 5

Best Time Management Tips - Part 5

Best Time Management Tips - Part 5
By Paul Cline

Mentors are quite possibly the greatest time-saving technique ever created. So why don't we hear about them more often? It's just one of those hidden secrets of time management that very few people are aware of, apparently even the people that write the time management books! If you only take one technique from this book - make it getting yourself a strong and wise mentor. It's just that important.

Mentors can be powerful in your life for many reasons. The first of which is that they can take years off the learning curve. Things that would take you 10, 20, 30, 50 years to learn they can teach you in a matter of hours, days or weeks. Clearly, this makes mentoring the ultimate time management skill. I can't think of anything that will save you more time, money and aggravation (with the possible exception of choosing the right spouse. I'm just kidding - sort of).

Mentors also typically bring with them a huge network of individuals and resources that they have gathered over the years. People and resources that it would take a lifetime (if ever) to get access to, they can share with you today. Many people who obtain a mentor failed to recognize this great resource and therefore don't take advantage of it. Don't let this be you! Make sure to explore and utilize these resources to their full and natural benefit.

A person can also have more than one mentor, and I highly recommend that you try to obtain two to five good mentors that each bring something different to the table. In all likelihood, these people will be your greatest resource and account for the vast majority of your success in life. This is provided they utilize them properly and take the bulk of their suggestions. I am always surprised how many people get access to a fantastic mentor and then fail to take their recommendations. Knowledge means you know something, but wisdom is utilizing that knowledge for positive gain. Therefore it's much better to be wise then knowledgeable.

Mentors are also a great source of support and give you someone you trust that you can talk to about your future plans, hopes and fears. Mentors will often become your best friends. My definition of a best friend is "the one who brings out the best in me." Typically this person is going to be a mentor of some kind.

Remember that your mentor(s) does a lot for you, so be sure to show appreciation, speak well of them to others, and be of service to them in any way shape or form that you can. All good relationships are based on reciprocity, liking, support and trust.

Start today to search out possible mentors around you and be bold and specific and asking them to become your mentor and exactly what you are seeking in a mentoring relationship. They will want to know what it will look like and what your expectations are. I always tell them that I will take up a minimum of their time, and then I try to keep that promise.

Sometimes when you're first starting out it seems very difficult to find mentors. But remember that while you are looking you can have many what I call "Remote Mentors." These take the form of books, audio CDs or MP3s, videos or Internet contacts that you can get access to relatively quickly. You are still getting the benefit of years of experience, it's just indirect, and in most cases, you can't ask questions. But it's a great place to start building your knowledge and wisdom while you wait to secure a direct and permanent mentor.

Time Management Is A Gift, Not The Enemy

Time Management Is A Gift, Not The Enemy

Time Management Is A Gift, Not The Enemy
By Sheri Hoff

In my mid 20's to mid 30's I viewed time management as an efficiency exercise that would help me pack more activities, projects, and commitments into my day. I had read most of the time management gurus of the 90's regarding prioritizing and achieving what you want in life. Though I successfully managed my time, I constantly felt exhausted, over-committed, and really did not enjoy my successes. I was always quickly moving on to the next task or project. I did not even walk in my cap and gown for graduation for my Bachelor's degree or my Master's degree because I was focused on the next goal. I told myself that I would walk when I earn my Ph.D.

Then something happened to me, I realized that I had a great husband, wonderful children, a great community and church; I was quickly moving up the corporate ladder, but I felt sad and empty inside. I could not understand it, as I lived in a new home and my life was packed with wonderful things and people, yet I felt numb. I also felt guilty and could not share with anyone that I might not be completely happy.

Through meditation and prayer, I learned that I had this constant fear that I did not have enough time to accomplish everything I needed in a day. I was also too future focused and had a difficult time living in the moment. I needed a whole new approach to how I viewed my day. I have understood for most of my adult life that controlling thoughts holds the keys to actions and outcomes in life. For some reason, I did not think to apply this approach to time management because I viewed time as a resource rather than moldable. Yes, we all have the same 24 hours and once time is gone, it is gone. However, the thought process concerning time can change.

Every morning I write in a journal with a grateful heart. Gratitude is a virtue long recognized throughout the ages as an important part of living a happy, joy filled life. I started adding my gratitude towards time. In the beginning, I did not feel very grateful, but I committed to changing my thoughts. I started thanking God everyday for giving me all of the time I need. I trust him for everything else in my life, so I reasoned that I should also trust him to give me the time I need. Soon, I began to relax inwardly. I now viewed time as a gift instead of the enemy. I quietly began to be more intentional and discriminating in my commitments. I did not force this process. The process happened naturally and peacefully. I also prayed for awareness for every moment of the day, so if I found myself reverting to my old thoughts regarding time, I would quickly recognize this and make adjustments.

I now have times where I feel like my heart swells with joy and I do live a life of contentment and happiness. The woman I used to be who stressed about time management and always lived for some future goal altered her thoughts and changed to a more peaceful and graceful heart. I, also, have committed to only take on work that is fulfilling.

Steps that you can take to change your view towards time management:
1. Meditate on the fact that all of the time that you need is already here.
2. Maintain awareness.
3. Allow yourself to be intentional and discriminating regarding your time.
4. Do work because it is fulfilling.

I know that you, too, can have a peaceful, grateful, and graceful attitude regarding your 24 hours.

3 Time Management Strategies - From Feeling Overwhelmed To Accomplishing More

3 Time Management Strategies - From Feeling Overwhelmed To Accomplishing More

3 Time Management Strategies - From Feeling Overwhelmed To Accomplishing More
By Wendy Hearn

It is actually fairly commonplace for people to become overwhelmed by everything that they have to accomplish in a day, especially when they are lacking in the necessary time management strategies. Are you feeling overwhelmed by everything that you set out to accomplish in a day? People who are overwhelmed accomplish far less than those who are confident about their workload. So if you are feeling overwhelmed by what is currently on your plate, these three time management strategies may help you feel far less overwhelmed, which will help you get more accomplished in the process.

1 - Delegate and Outsource.

One of the biggest things that you can do to improve your time management is actually simple to understand. You do not need to do everything, let alone do it all in one day. Rather than try to take everything on by yourself, learn how to delegate and outsource by offering parts of projects to those who can help. If you believe that someone can manage part of a project more efficiently than you, ask for their help. Focus on the parts of projects that you know that you can complete, and do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the details.

2 - Set Time Limits and Time Budgets.

Every task that you tackle should have a realistic time limit or time budget set for it. This way, you can better work productively on each and every task based on individual time limits. When you give a task an indefinite amount of time, or when you try to tack a single time limit onto a very large project, it is much more difficult to get things done in a timely manner. Instead, allow each facet of a project to have a time budget and you will be able to get a lot more accomplished.

3 - Learn to Say No.

You need to learn how to say no not only to your own self, but also to other people in your life who have unrealistic expectations of you. People often take on far too much and that is one of the largest causes of things simply not getting accomplished. Don't take on more than you can handle, letting yourself and other people down in the process. Instead, simply learn how to say no when you do not think that you can accomplish a given task, rather than taking it on and allowing for it to overwhelm you further.

Effective Way To Mange Your Time

AchievementRadio.com's

Effective Way To Mange Your Time

Effective Way To Mange Your Time
By William King

The number of goals that any individual accomplishes depends solely on the way in which one chooses to utilize one's time. The concept of how to use time differs for different people. According to their priorities, they choose to do certain things over others. That is not to say that everyone prioritizes their life's duties in the right manner. This is why so many people find themselves unable to complete tasks that they have been striving to complete for long periods of time.

Time management requires proper planning. There are several areas that need work. There are several duties that one needs to perform on a day to day basis. To accurately prioritize these duties and then to allot them time spans requires some organization. The following are some of the things you may want to consider before drawing up a time table of a schedule:

• Aims and Objectives: It is important to determine what the activities that need to be done are and the amount of time you have. But it is more important to determine your objective and rationale for doing those things. There are several activities we continue to do out of habit, which do not bear any fruitful results, but waste a lot of time. These need to be identified and eliminated.

• Time Management Tools: A proper idea of your goals needs to be clear in your head. External tools can only help to enhance that focus. Get hold of diaries, planers and reminders to help you keep a track of the activities that you had planned. This helps you to follow the schedule better.

• Consistency: Be consistent with your work. Once you let lethargy creep into your daily schedule, it will be difficult to get rid of it. Do your day to day job on time. Don't let jobs spill into other time slot. Clear backlog regularly.

• Energy: This aspect has a lot to do with your biological needs. Some people are inherently energetic and feel fresh with a short nap because they get a deep and peaceful sleep. Others are light sleepers so short hours of sleep do not help rejuvenate them. It is important to identify the kind of rest you need. Determine the energy patter cycle. Also find out the time of the day when your concentration is at maximum. Work around that time, and take adequate rest. Try not to feel stressed. And find out ways to relax.

• Organization: This involves both mental and physical organization. Be clear in your head about what jobs you have to finish and be mentally prepared for them. Also keep your work space and living area clutter free. Clutter and mess have adverse impact on concentration. Simple things like putting things back from where you pulled them out will save you from the trouble of clearing the mess later. It will also help you find those things again easily.

Time Management - One Question For Dramatically Freeing Up Your Time
By Wendy Hearn

If you wish to manage your time effectively one of the most powerful things you can do is to is to question whether the actions you are taking are the right ones for you and the best ones to get the task completed.

If you wish to manage your time effectively one of the most powerful things you can do is to is to question whether the actions you are taking are the right ones for you and the best ones to get the task completed.

If you get into the habit of asking yourself these questions, you will find that you will come up with new and better ways of getting things done. More importantly, it will help you to identify the things that are most important to you.

In a sense, it is more about managing yourself than managing your time. If you ask yourself the right questions and listen to the answers that come you will find that you will complete tasks more effectively and more quickly. What is more, you will find yourself using the time you have for what you really want to do. As you get better at this, the effective management of your time will come on its own.

In any given day you will have a number of tasks to complete and things you want to do. However, you must remember that you can only do one thing at a time and it is quite possible that you simply cannot get everything done in just one day. Because of this, the most important question you can ask yourself is, “What is the most valuable use of my time right now?”.

Get into the habit of asking yourself this question regularly. In fact, you should ask it a number of times each day. It only takes a few seconds for you to ask yourself this and listen to the answer that comes, yet it can transform how effectively you manage the precious hours in your day.

There are any number of other questions you can ask yourself that will help improve your time management. However, “What is the most valuable use of my time right now?” should be the one you ask yourself the most.

As you do this each day, you will find patterns emerging that will help you plan your day. Many people shy away from planning because of the time it takes. However, it is well worth devoting 15 minutes to planning each day as it could save you hours. It is a time investment that has very, very good returns.

If you stay focused on your goals you will develop a clear idea of which tasks and activities should take priority in your life. And in your work you will be able to identify the tasks that you enjoy doing and are good at. There will remain some things to be done that do not fall into this category. You should think about delegating these tasks to someone who is more suited to them. This can be hard to do at first but it is essential for managing your time effectively.

Above all, keep asking yourself that one question. As time passes your circumstances will change, as will your priorities. Asking that one simple question will help you manage your time to suit these changes.

Even Better Than Time Management

Even Better Than Time Management!

Even Better Than Time Management!
By Valerie Thomson

What would happen if you stopped managing time? Picture it in your mind for a moment. Would everything around you start to fall like glass breaking in slow motion? What if it didn't?

Although time management is at the top of most entrepreneurial women's priorities, few are able to do it to their satisfaction. I've spent many years working with women who become frustrated and overwhelmed, all while struggling with the accepted "good ways" of managing time. So many of us - whether working from home, a favorite coffee shop, or a professional building - end up blaming ourselves as we struggle with trying to organize our lives in ways that aren't a good fit. It's not unusual to find ourselves flailing when we take on someone else's idea of how things should be done. The secret, as counter-intuitive as it seems, starts with an invitation to stop managing time altogether. We can't really do it anyway - it's an illusion.

We are all unique people with our own set of perspectives and innate strengths. We run at different speeds, on different fuels, using different engines.

Compare two successful business owners at the start of their day:

Owner #1 wakes with her wheels already spinning. Jumping immediately into her day, she works in high gear until early afternoon. Lunching late and alone, she prefers music and long walks in the park to business lunches. Once refueled, she's back into high gear until early evening, closing deals in other time zones until stopping for a late dinner with friends.

Owner #2 begins her day with a good stretch. She faithfully keeps to an exercise routine before work, all the while planning and strategizing what she will accomplish later in the day. At work she remains calm under stress, attaining her goals while remaining in low gear.

So, how can both women achieve meaningful success? Their secret lies in how they use their energy throughout the day. Owner #1 has learned how to ride the big energy waves when she feels them; owner #2 knows her best can be elicited by sustaining a steady pace that keeps her clear, focused and efficient. The comparison shows us two distinctive styles of maximizing the power of effective personal energy management.

Everyone has a picture of success they hold in their minds, along with a list of what they think achieving it requires. These beliefs about how we "should" get things done can blind us to better ways of accomplishing what we want. Becoming too focused on managing time can channel needed energy and creativity away from the goals themselves.
