Dream Development and Goal Setting

Dream Development and Goal Setting

Dream Development and Goal Setting
By Bruno Logreco

How do you use personal development or self improvement to turn a dream into your reality? You need to do several things. First, you need to decide what you want. Then, you need to decide how to get it. Do you know how to get from point A to point B? A life coach is someone you might want to consult with to find out the best way to travel down that winding road.

A life coach is well versed in taking plans from dreams and helping people make them into a reality. A coach has the proven methods and skills needed to take a vision and turn it into a plan. Many people sit and dream about happiness and success but don't now how to get from the dream to the celebratory, "I've done it!" part. That's where a mentor can come in.

Finding the best life coach

How do you choose a professional life coach or mentor to help you with your personal development and goal setting and help you get over the tough hurdles? Your mentor should be someone you can connect with, someone who inspires you. Do they have a story of inspiration or a great tale to tell? Do they make you feel comfortable enough to share your fears and your dreams? Do they inspire you and always have the right words to motivate you? When you interview your lifecoach, you want to leave that telephone or face to face interview with the sense that you are about to change your life and that you will reach your goals.

Goals are not always easy to achieve. Sometimes a self improvement plan doesn't work out and needs changing. The best life coach won't just be someone who does cheerleading in the corner but rather will be someone who can help you logically move forward in a direction that makes sense for your life. Instead of feeling aimless and lost, a life or success coach can help you find the path to your heart's desires and help you plant your feet firmly on that path.

Why Everyone Needs A Mentor
By Bruno Logreco

Do you think you need a mentor? Are you jealous of those bubbly, happy and motivated people? Do you look at your life and wonder why you bothered to get out of bed this morning? You need a mentor!

A life coach is someone who can help you become one of those happy, successful and motivated people. We all want happiness, we all crave energy and being on the path to success in life can do so much for you. The bandwagon of self improvement really can take you somewhere!

Learning how to channel your energy into something positive and map out a plan to reach your goals is easy. What's tough is when things get going.

Many people who start to work on a plan don't reach the pinnacle of success because they get stuck part way through. You might need to stop during your plan and make a u-turn and go in a different direction. There's no way to know this up front though and this is the point where some people decide to quit. Quitting isn't the only option when things don't go as planned. Having a mentor can help you realise that. You might be on track but just need to have a helping hand to get over some hurdles. Maybe success is so close you can actually taste it but something that you are afraid of is stopping you from crossing the finish line.

What can life coaching really do for you? Do you know that keeping your goals in focus is often all you need to do to achieve them. Your life coach or mentor can help you by regularly going through your plan to determine if everything is on target. Your mentor can help you get back on track when things get derailed. Your coach can help you keep your outcome in mind despite the curveballs life throws at you.

At any point in life, a mentor can help someone attain success. Whether you're rich or poor and whether you're young or old, it always helps to have someone guiding you and cheering you on. Some of the most successful people in the world have been known to have counsellors and life coaches.

Are you ready to live your life with more purpose and passion than ever? Visit http://www.brunologreco.com to learn how to get started. Here's to your success in life!

How To Choose a Career and Life Coach

AchievementRadio.com's

How To Choose a Career and Life Coach
By Bruno Logreco

A quick search for life coaches in your city can reveal many choices. How do you choose the life coach that's best for you?

There are life coaching professionals that are suited to specific demographics such as teen life coaches, family coaches, career coaches, wellness coaches or coaches that cover another area specifically. There are also generalists who are well versed in a number of different areas.

What's most important is that your life coach mentors you and motivates you. Different coaching styles and methodologies exist. It may take you a few phone calls or a meeting to determine which coaching style is right for you. A life coach that offers a tailored coaching service is preferable because life coaching isn't a one size fits all solution.

You want a coach who will motivate you and who you can relate to. While you want someone high energy you want a realist. A life coach with extensive business skills as well as life skills is important. Having someone work in your corner with you and for you who understands life's challenges is important as well.

When you decide to choose a life coach or professional mentor, be sure you understand what services they provide as part of their package. You want to know how quickly you can expect a call back if you need them. You want to understand their billing policies and procedures. You want to know what tools and resources are available if you need help.

Do you know what you want in life? Whether it's financial security, motivation to get up and go everyday, a great family life or a feeling of peace and serenity you can get there sooner if you have a good coach in your corner.

When you find the right fit, you can find a world of possibilities opens up because your mentor will draw out the best of YOU. You are the one with the key to unleash your own potential but the right coach or mentor can help you find that power within yourself.

A Life Without Limits - The Power of Freedom

AchievementRadio.com's

A Life Without Limits - The Power of Freedom

A Life Without Limits - The Power of Freedom
By Steyn Viljoen

Everywhere you go (or rather almost everywhere...), you see cars driving. Most of them have a 5 speed gearbox. Now and then you will find one with a 6 speed gearbox (which makes traveling quite exciting). Unfortunately many of them aren't used to their full potential because they are being used in rush hour, 5 days a week. The 1st and 2nd gear are used most of the time. All of them were designed for much more than that. They were designed to use all 5 gears, otherwise why would they create a car with 5 gears?

The truth is that many people (or perhaps all people) find themselves in 1st and 2nd gear some or even all the time. It causes them to be really frustrated. They know they are destined for much more but they are stuck in a rut (gear). Some don't even know how to get into 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear because they have been in 2nd gear for so long. Some burn themselves out because they drive to fast in 2nd gear because they think they are in 5th. Others drive in 5th gear all the time but wish to find the 6th gear so they can make life even more exciting...

Living life in 1st and 2nd gear is a life without freedom, and life without freedom is a life with anger, frustration, unfulfillment and/or boredom.

What if you were destined for much more than just a 1st and 2nd gear?

I believe that every human being is unique, creative and resourceful. I also believe that every person is the creator of any circumstances he/she wants. In other words, you don't need answers to change the circumstances that causes you to struggle to finish your journey. You are the answer. Why? Because you have been given a gift called freedom of choice.

Viktor E. Frankl stated it as follow: "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."

So, how do you live a life with freedom? If you can answer the following 5 questions with honesty and act on them you will be taken on a journey of freedom. Freedom cannot be obtained through a series of quick fix ideas, but through applying principles in the following questions.

1. What do you really want to do?
What do you really, really, really want to do regardless of circumstances and what others say.

2. How will the results influence people around you?
A life without contribution is a life without freedom. What you give is what you get. How will it make you feel if you can see the impact on others life?

3. How much responsibility and commitment do you take?
Everything less than 1oo% is not enough.

4. What action steps and development plans can you take/make NOW in order for you to get there?
Consider the possibility that your power to act is independent of what you feel and think.

5. Who can you ask to keep you accountable; to inspire, move and touch you?
What can you decide, acknowledge, or let go of in order for you to keep momentum?

Imagine a life where not even the sky is the limit.
Imagine a life where you know exactly how to get there.
Imagine a life where no circumstance, hindrance or obstacle can stand in your way.
A life like this will be a life where you apply the freedom of choice.
So, what do you choose to do...?

When Your Life Becomes a Prayer Wheel

AchievementRadio.com's

When Your Life Becomes a Prayer Wheel

When Your Life Becomes a Prayer Wheel
By Joshua Dunn

A Prayer Wheel may come in a lot of different forms, but essentially it is a wheel that is inscribed or embedded with a specific prayer or mantra. In the Tibetan tradition, when you spin a prayer wheel, it has the same effect as verbally chanting or praying.

Many Tibetans will spin their Prayer Wheel dozens of times a day; in the morning, while they are walking around, and before bed at night. They often chant as they walk, with a Mala (prayer beads) in one hand and a Prayer Wheel in the other. For some Tibetans, prayer is a way of life, not just something that you do occasionally. By constantly turning their Prayer Wheels, they can keep their prayer alive in the world.

So what does a Prayer Wheel have to do with your life? And how does your life become a Prayer Wheel? Although I don't remember who said it, or where I heard it, this concept has been stuck in my head for years. I didn't understand it at the time, but over the years I have begun to get an idea of what it means to have my life become a Prayer Wheel.

Prayer Wheels and Purpose

We all have a Purpose in life. Although we are not always clear about what that Purpose is. Ultimately your Purpose is your own creation. It is the context that you choose to live your life inside of. Purpose has nothing to do with your circumstances, or changing your circumstances. It has nothing to do with getting something, or getting somewhere. True Purpose can only exist as a possibility of something. You can never achieve your Purpose, you can only take a stand for it. And a Purpose must have scope. It has to be big enough to be worth giving your life to. (Maybe even giving your life for.)

Let me give you an example.

"I Have A Dream"

You have all heard this one before, but I think it's an appropriate time to remind you. "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal'"

Martin Luther King Jr. had a "dream". Another way to say it would be that he had a Purpose that he gave his life to, and yes, gave his life for as well. That Purpose was freedom for every man, woman, and child.

Did he achieve his Purpose? You're fooling yourself if you think he did. But did he live true to his Purpose? Absolutely. He intentionally created his "self" as this Purpose. And that's what you must do if you want your life to become a Prayer Wheel.

When Your Life Becomes a Prayer Wheel

It begins with simply declaring a Purpose for your life.

What is your Purpose?

Now remember, Purpose is a creation. You get to say what you will live your life for. Are you going to live your life for Freedom, like Dr. King? Are you going to live your life for Peace, like Gandhi? For Love, like Jesus of Nazareth? What are you willing to give your life to?

Next, you begin to align your thoughts and your actions to your Purpose. This is not an overnight process. It may take years. It may take your whole life. All you can do is ask yourself, in any given moment, "is my life aligned with my Purpose right now?" Is Love present with my family? Is Freedom present in my business? Is Peace present in my thoughts? You just keep bringing yourself back to your Purpose when you stray.

But I promise you one thing. If you stand for your Purpose for long enough, your Purpose will begin to stand for you. Your Purpose will begin to shine through in every area of your life, in everything you do. Your life will become a Prayer Wheel and the possibility of your Purpose will be alive in the world.

Do You Have Trouble Asking for Help? - This is a Skill You Can Learn

AchievementRadio.com's

Do You Have Trouble Asking for Help? - This is a Skill You Can Learn

Do You Have Trouble Asking for Help? - This is a Skill You Can Learn
By Kevin McNabb

Do you resist asking for help--until it's your last resort?

Join the crowd.

Our fierce independence is creating a culture of need--and unprecedented isolation.

Attendance at club meetings is down 58 percent, involvement in church activities has dropped as much as 50 percent, and simply having friends over to the house has decreased 45 percent. Meanwhile, one in four people say they have no one to confide in--and most everyone reports overwhelming levels of stress at home and on the job.

The good news?

You can learn to ask for help. But first, you've got to figure why you don't, why you should, and how you can.

Why we don't ask for help

Asking for help is so frightening that, even when faced with death, some of us will still not ask for that helping hand. To overcome this dread, you've got to debunk some common cultural myths--and face your fears:

Myth: Asking for help makes you look weak or needy.

Reality: There's no shame in turning to others in times of need. In fact, it's a sign of strength.

Myth: Asking for help signals incompetence--especially at work.

Reality: Seeking help at work shows others that you want to do the job right--and to develop and learn.

Myth: Asking for help can harm relationships.

Reality: Healthy relationships are about give-and-take--not just give.

Myth: Asking for help puts others in an awkward position.

Reality: It's human nature to offer help when you see someone in need--and it's no different when others see you in need.

Myth: Asking for help might lead to rejection.

Reality: Even a "no" response offers the opportunity to learn more about yourself--and your relationships.

Myth: Asking for help means the job might not get done right.

Reality: Refusing to ask for fear of losing control maintains the status quo. Let go and give your helpmate a chance to shine.

Myth: Asking for help means you'll have to return the favor.

Reality: Help freely given comes with no strings attached--other than a simple and sincere thank-you.

Myth: Asking for help just isn't the American way.

Reality: Independence and self-sufficiency are admirable qualities that lead to success. Still, all great enterprises--including our nation--were built on mutual support and teamwork.

Why we should ask for help

Mastering the "Mayday" call can ease and enhance your life and career in a variety of ways. Asking for help:

• Deepens connections

When someone answers your call for help, it strengthens the bond between you--or creates the potential for a new relationship.

• Reduces stress and restores energy

Getting help can save you time and energy, simplify your life, and improve your work-life balance.

• Reminds you that you're not alone

Everyone needs help at times. If you're the type who endures hardships with grim determination, you'll discover you don't have to go it alone.

• Gives happiness to others

Don't you feel good when you help someone else? Letting others help you gives them that same opportunity.

• Leads to personal growth

Taking risks, learning to trust, and finding out that others have got your back are just a few of the lessons you'll learn.

• Allows the pleasure of surrender

Being out of control can actually feel great. Once asking for help gets a little easier, you'll relish the experience of letting go.

• Reminds you that you're worthy of support

You deserve a hand as much as anyone else. When someone comes to your aid, it reinforces that message.

• Lets others shine

Seeking help gives others the opportunity to reach out, contribute, and try something new.

• Clarifies relationships

Mayday calls reveal the strengths and limitations of relationships--and provide important "aha" moments.

• Solves problems

Don't overlook the original reason for the Mayday call: You're in trouble and need help--help that could potentially change, or even save, your life.

How we can ask for help

Too many of us would rather go it alone when help is right there--just for the asking. Here are ways to reach out with comfort and confidence:

• Practice.

Building your Mayday muscles requires regular exercise. Challenge yourself to ask for help three times a day--every day.

• Go easy on yourself.

Self-care is the new self-help. Be compassionate with yourself--and remember that you, too, are deserving of help.

• Cast a wider net.

Expand your list of helpmates. Look beyond the obvious--family and friends, and co-workers--and add some new names to the list, starting with someone who's been in your shoes.

• Plan the time--and place.

Talk to your potential helpmate as soon as possible. Pick a convenient time for him or her, and do it in person--and in private.

• Be specific.

Articulate your needs. Clarify what you're looking for--from terms to timelines--though be careful not to micromanage.

• Listen differently.

Be attentive to the subtle cues behind a general "yes" or "no" response. Is your potential helpmate willing--or reluctant?

• Use the "three thanks" rule.

Don't flub the thanks. Express your gratitude three times--when the agreement is struck, when the need has been met, and when you next see your helpmate. Ask early, ask often

No one is immune from needing help, even in today's go-it-alone culture. So, take a risk and "make the ask"--early and often. It just may change your life!

Sincerely,

Kevin "K-Man" McNabb

How to Define and Conquer!

AchievementRadio.com's

How to Define and Conquer!

How to Define and Conquer!
By Lee Lam

Look at the following words:

  • Ambition
  • Success
  • Love
  • Confidence
  • Failure

Now, how would you define these words? Does the meaning for you change with the circumstances in which it is being used? If you asked ten other people to define these words, do you think your descriptions would match?

How we define words is a great way to see instantly how different we all are. When we have to explain what a word means, it is unlikely we will go to a dictionary and look up the 'official' meaning. Instead, we would draw on our experience of that word and use that as a basis for our definition.

Because we use our experience to explain the words, and our experiences are all so different, we would have very different picture of what each word represented to us.

If I was to now ask you to attach an emotion to each of those words, what would it be? Do some inspire you? Do some leave a bad taste in your mouth? If so, your definition will be very different, but also the way you use it would be different.

Trying to define a word such as confidence can illustrate this. For some, it is something they aspire to, and they define it as 'the ability to do anything, without worrying'. For others, who may have had a bad experience with someone who was seen to be confident, they may say 'confidence is arrogance - they think they can do anything'. Very different descriptions, depending on who is talking.

So how can you use this information? Firstly, you can understand yourself better by understanding how you use the words. Did any of your findings surprise you, making you think differently about how you perceive that word? Has it uncovered any limiting beliefs you may have, which may be affecting your ability to reach your goal? If you have any negative connotations associated with, for example, success, you may be subconsciously sabotaging your own efforts, as you actually do not want to be successful, for what that means to you.

This exercise also helps you appreciate how others may interpret what you say differently to how you meant them, based on their definition of the words you are using. With awareness of this, you may be able to improve your ability to communicate effectively with others and improve your social skills.

Hi, I'm Lee Lam and I am a Professional Confidence Coach. I run Lee Lam Coaching which was established nearly four years ago. I find it fascinating that people are coming to realise that the quest for material wealth and social recognition is not actually making them happy at all - instead it tends to bring its own set of problems. Clients I have worked with all have one thing in common - they are fed up with their life as it is now and they are ready to make a change. I am so privileged to be in their lives at this time, as they really review their life and what it means to them. To see the transformation to their spirits as they start to understand what they are capable of is absolutely mind-blowing. I have worked with some fundamentally awe-inspiring people, who have had the courage to work towards their dreams and I consider it my honour to be involved in that process. Tune Out What You're Against, Focus On What You're For

AchievementRadio.com's

Tune Out What You're Against, Focus On What You're For

Tune Out What You're Against, Focus On What You're For
By R. Benjamin Muller

It's so easy in this polarized world of sides and conflicts between various collectivist groups, philosophies, and individuals, to get caught up in being against this or that evil(imagined or otherwise). Every group wants us to be against something or others for whatever reason. Some even attempt to profit by stepping onto the proverbial soapbox and announcing to the world that they are for/against something that they think will generate publicity and attention for themselves. Take the presidential election and all the "journalists" out there writing such insightful comments as xyz supporters are idiots, fanatics, out of touch, etc... what they really want is to channel the passions of the people they insult into traffic for their news outlets(websites, magazines, newspapers, etc...), which in turn aids the profitability of their site and their own personal sense of validation. It also serves to weaken the people they insult. It does this because as the people they insult get angry, the people focus on what they're against, namely the person that insulted them, rather than remaining focused on what they're for, whatever objective that might be.

To achieve our objectives, to prosper, to rise up above the noise of the conflict in the world as individuals, we must cease to be against things and people. Whenever we find ourselves slipping into the mindset of being against what we don't want, we must shake it off and refocus on what we do want. You will not do good work when you are focused on not doing bad work, but rather, when you are focused on doing good work, then you will do it. If you doubt this, test it.

Nothing illustrates this concept better than riding a bike. If you get on a bike and focus on where you don't want to go, you will not go where you do want to go. If you focus on where you do want to go, you will go there. The same can also be experienced walking, but it tends to play out less dramatically than on a bike. If you attempt to walk down a whole block focusing on where you don't want to go, you are not likely to get where you do want to go. It is simply easier and always more logical, to stay focused on where and what you want, rather than letting yourself get distracted by what you don't want.

As easy and clear as it sounds when rationally talking about it, it can be difficult in practice, especially when you first begin to pay attention to your focus. There are numerous opportunities throughout the day to find the things we are opposed against seeping into our focus. A casual conversation with a friend over a song, tv show, software, whatever that we might have a disagreement over. A political discussion or discussion of a hot-button issue that we take part in or simply end up inadvertently overhearing. Or even a news item we catch about some action or crime that we have strong personal feelings about. All of these things can begin to shift our focus without us even being aware it's happening.

When you find yourself aware that your focus has shifted from your goals, from where you want to be, to these things you don't like or want, take a moment to consider the consequences of it. Where will you go if you continue to focus on what you don't like/want? How effective will you be in working towards the achievement of your goals if you continue to dwell on what you don't like/want? Does the good that you want to see brought to reality in the world have a better chance of coming into being by you focusing on being against the bad, or you focusing on being for the good? Are you better served by focusing on what you don't want, or by focusing on what you do want?

I'm not saying that you should ignore every injustice in the world, I will be the last person in the world to advocate that. However, it is better to focus on realizing justice, rather than not realizing injustice. It is better to focus on having abundance, than on not having lack. It is better to focus on making money, than on not being broke. It is better to focus on being happy, than on not being unhappy.

If you doubt it, just try it. It doesn't cost you anything and it doesn't require you giving up any of your beliefs or anything else. Just change your focus for a while, be aware of it, and see what happens. If you're like me and those who pointed this out to me, you will begin to achieve your goals with far more consistency and frequency than previously. You will also realize you have a lot more power in your life than you previously thought.

Personal Coach For Mental Toughness

AchievementRadio.com's

Personal Coach For Mental Toughness

Personal Coach For Mental Toughness
By William Evans

My personal coach is me! A tough mental attitude is not something you can purchase at the corner store or at your favourite supermarket. My coach is the door to a mental attitude that will show me where I want to go & what I need to do to get there.

Our life is our own autobiography that we have already written, it is within us. What we need to do is examine ourselves we need to look closely at our feelings, our emotions and try to understand them, without fear. Our emotions and feelings are ours, they do not belong to someone else, we do not need to fear them, we are all born with them. They are not bad things. We own them.

What we can do however is we can learn to accept them. The negative feelings & emotions, the positive feelings & emotions. they are our makeup. We own them & we can choose to keep them or we choose to let them go, it is our choice. When we choose to release a negative feeling or emotion, and cast it aside, it may not happen immediately but as we practice releasing, it will become easier.

Any activity we employ that demands continual exercises for our mind, our brain, will strengthen our ability to become whatever we want to become it is up to us as individuals to determine how tough our mental attitude will be. We do not have to fear letting go, We do not have to fear being our best self.
