He's only thirty two years of age. Ron Gonen, a recycling businessman, saw opportunity in a very unusual place. Garbage! His mind of intellectual entrepreneurial ism turned what is other people's recyclable garbage, into a profitable million dollar goldmine. Gonen has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that garbage is gold after all in the eyes of some. Upon meeting with what was his first potential recycling merchant, which was The City of Philadelphia, his selling power had been recognized within.

From his personal analytics of the recycling industry once he acquired a contract with The Greater Philadelphia area, he successfully pointed out to city officials where they were going wrong. In fact, some of his company profits grew from showing them how much money was being left on the table, by not having a structured recycling program intact. As he succeeded in pointing out issues about how to recycle more efficiently, he introduced his million dollar solution. While showing his idea and increasing the recycling rate, Gonen setup a test pilot program to prove his plan worked. City officials of Philadelphia quickly adopted to believing in him. From this entrepreneur's risk and extended efforts, the plan became an instant success.

To track increased conversion rates on how much the city has increased in productivity and is saving from Gonen's company "Recycle Bank", a radio chip is inserted in a certain position on the garbage containers left at consumers residences. It measures the amount people place in their garbage containers, so familes who recycle the most will will reap fruitful rewards offered. Recycle Bank has an incentive program in place for consumers to receive reward points through the company's official website. His revenue is generated from the cities whom he partners with in helping to save money, while increasing the recycling productivity, all from the information transmitted from the radio chip inside containers at people's homes.

In conclusion, the author of this article salutes the positive business efforts of Mr. Ron Gonen. For a man of his age, he has definitely contributed to society in such a positive way. While earning an honest living from what he does, Gonen is also helping to make the environment as well as some trash able to be used again. In addition, rewarding families according to the weight of things they throw away which is able to be reprocessed into something potentially useful, his idea, which has never been though of before, not only made him instantly successful in the business world, but in fact he could potentially someday be in the financial ranks with Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Sergey Brin, and other billionaires.

2. ARE YOU CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED, DO YOU RELATE WELL TO PEOPLE, DO YOU LIKE TO HELP PEOPLE?

Successful business owners are customer service oriented. Good entrepreneurs are very aware of what type of products and services their customers are seeking. If you are a smart entrepreneur, no matter what you sell, you are selling to the customer's satisfaction. Customers who aren't satisfied don't stay with that business owner.

3.DO YOU POSSESS REALISM?

Successful business owners possess realism. Entrepreneurs know that competitors' ads may stretch the truth or salespeople may not be telling the truth in their promotional claims to the customer. As an entrepreneur you should know that all employees aren't honest or may not show up for work when they are supposed to, suppliers may not deliver merchandise on time and you should know that all businesses don't play fair.

That means successful entrepreneurs have done their homework, developed plans & back-up plans. You'll know that starting a new business isn't easy, you should know that it will take time, effort and money. An entrepreneur should make the decision to stay on course and practice good management.

4. ARE YOU RESILIENT?

Successful business owners are resilient. These entrepreneurs are willing to stay the course when things get rough. You will face the challenge and deal with the failure. As an entrepreneur, you'll know that some things are out of your control such as a rise in loan rates, a recession or a poor job market but you hang in there through the ups & downs of business.

5. ARE YOU A GOOD DECISION MAKER?

Successful business owners are good decision makers. Entrepreneurs know that decisions must be made. If you are an entrepreneur, you can't be wishy-washy or indecisive. You must be focused and you can't procrastinate. You know that you must make the call, you are wise, you listen to advice and when necessary, you can be flexible.

ESTABLISH THE FOUNDATION

Leverage Credentials: If you have any special education or certifications, you are already an expert. Make your credentials known.

There are are important qualities that are common amongst many entrepreneurs.

Take risks.

Venture outside your comfort zone once in a while, as this helps you to expand your mind and your business to a new level. When you take risks, you are removing the safety nets, thus eliminating fear from all angles. So if an opportunity comes your way, and you want to pursue it, then do it without hesitation.

Delegate or outsource

It's not humanly possible to excel at everything. Therefore, in order to free up your workload, find out where your strengths lie, and spend 90% of your time doing these projects. With the remaining 10%, undergo more training to increase your knowledge, delegate or outsource the work.

Make goals

Implement a business plan, which defines clearly your short term and long term goals, allowing you to make decisions constructively and wisely. Work towards your objectives through visionary exercises and the repeating of goals daily.

Have no regrets

If you pursued wrong business paths, or missed out on old challenges and opportunities in the past, then have no regrets. It will probably take a great deal of practice to forget about what could have been, and what should have been. By having regrets, it hinders your progress to move forward.

Socializing

Socialize with successful people. There are various social networking websites that you can sign up with. You can also attend business conferences and free seminars in your area. Use the search engines to locate 'social network clubs for entrepreneurs' and see the available clubs in your vicinity. Socializing with other people enables you to share ideas, opinions and aspirations.

Giving and receiving

What you give out to the universe, you will get back. So don't be a selfish business person. Treat people fairly and with respect. Just as you receive help from others, be prepared to help others. Not necessarily financially, but it can be in the form of advice of some kind, or even a favor

Be flexible

Business never stands still. Your business will flow according to the economy, competition and consumer changes. You too as an entrepreneur cannot remain static, so be prepared to be flexible in your thinking and ride with change.

In conclusion therefore,entrepreneurs if not born-made, can still be successful, by applying the above skills. So go ahead and be an entrepreneur in the making.

Ever wondered what kind of people entrepreneurs are in general? Well, let us look at Onassis. Did you know he went bankrupt at least twice during his lifetime? But did you also know that he usually worked two jobs during the lean years of his life? That means he consistently worked twice as much as the average person.

Or take Harvey McKay. If you read is book "Swim With The Sharks" you should know that he could not have come up with all those great ideas and advice without having had to learn it first hand. He gained most of his know-how by experience, having written that he believed that when he had graduated he realized that he still had to start learning everything about business.

Or, consider Donald Trump. Well, he did go through some well mediatised divorces and bankruptcies. Did he stop? Where is he now? He is right on top of the world, richer than ever.

Antony Robbins is another good example. By his own admission, he had to experience failure before deciding that he did not like it at all. Today, he is the absolute master in his niche activity.

There are scores of examples of this type of events in most entrepreneurial careers, yet each time, these personalities get a trouncing from life, they bounce back with a vengeance. So what sets them apart from the average crowd?

First: an indomitable and burning desire to succeed.

Second: consistent refusal to accept defeat.

Third: the ability to adapt and learn from their own mistakes.

Fourth: consistent courage. They do not give up, period.

Fifth: self-discipline. Entrepreneurs do what they have to do to get where they want to go.

Sixth: creativity and the willingness to put new ideas to the test.

Seventh: common sense. If something works, they will not try to fix it.

Eight: integrity. Entrepreneurial types usually do not try the shortcuts or the easy way.

Nine: honesty. Most entrepreneurs know that they have to create win-win situations and will refuse to go for shady deals.

Ten: entrepreneurs will do the extra mile. Usually this means they are willing to do what most of us will not.

That's ten good reasons why entrepreneurs stand apart from the crowd and why they succeed there where others fail. There are many more other reasons, but those will be the subject of another article.

There was a time when the only thing that was green was your lawn and for some of us, even that was questionable. However, there is a movement around the globe to go green. Simply put, that means to use devices and practices that are gentle on the environment and conserve energy.

With all of the electronic gadgets on the market out there one has to wonder what happens to them once they are no longer usuable. In steps Customer Service Cos. and there new ecoNEW program. Normally they provide extended warranties for the likes of Best Buy and Wal-mart.

According to Antony Brune of Billboard, "Participating retailers (which have not yet been announced) simply advertise that customers can return any electronics products they own--even if they weren't purchased at the store--to the program and in return receive an in-store credit gift card for a predetermined amount based on the type and condition of the device. EcoNEW handles all the collection and evaluation details and issues the gift cards directly."

Statistics on other similar businesses are showing a 12% conversion rate on rediscovered devices and nearly 70% of all the devices recovered under this type of plan are returned for the agreed upon fee.

Currently there are four companies that handle this type of program. They are Techforward, EcoNEW, Apple and Recycle Reward.

Each have their own specifications on how the buy back works and varying clients so doing a Google search on any of the companies should give you a better understanding of how they work.

For example, Techforward says, "Customers buy the plan at point of purchase for a guaranteed rate, then return the item using the program's free packaging and shipping." As for ecoNEW, "Customers fill out an online survey detailing what devices they want to get rid of and the condition of the product, and ecoNEW provides an estimate for the buyback, as well as free shipping." Apple offers to customers discounts on new products for returning older ones.

These types of buy back programs are wonderful opportunities for everyone to do their part in going green.

What does it take to become a successful entrepreneur? Turns out it takes a lot more than most people imagine when they open their doors to start conducting business.

The BIGGEST challenge is becoming comfortable with stepping out of your comfort zone into the abyss of the unknown in full faith that the path will reveal itself.

In most traditional business positions, your strengths and weaknesses are compensated by your position. For example, if you are great with generating content (i.e., information products) and teaching people (i.e., training), you can get a job in training and development. You don't HAVE to be proficient at marketing online and offline or closing the sale in order to be successful.

Entrepreneurs soon learn they need to master several skills, many of which take them WAY out of their comfort zone.

As an entrepreneur myself, I've identified the top 10 hurdles that ALL successful entrepreneurs must overcome to experience successful entrepreneurship.

1. Discovering and fine-tuning your message to market match so that you can build your clientele and sustain your business. Your message needs to match YOU, your offerings, your services, and your clientele. If there is a glitch anywhere in this area, it is exceptionally difficult. When remedied, clients and opportunities flow!

2. Determining your highest return on investment (i.e., money making or time generating) activities in your business and doing more of those activities in your business. This goes right along with consistently dropping your lowest return on investment (i.e., money or time wasting activities).

3. Becoming comfortable converting one-on-one sales in person. Many of us were never sales people before we got into our business. It is important to get out there, network, meet people, socialize, and share your knowledge to improve your potential client's life. Confidence in sales is absolutely necessary, but the beauty is that you don't have to be a hard seller to close a sale. While you're networking, simply make a point to share your business opportunity clearly as it applies to help improve your prospect's life.

4. Creating a solid online presence and fine-tuning online sales conversions to generate passive revenue online. This involves capturing leads, communicating with great content, leading them into your products and services, and then fine-tuning the process until it works like a well-oiled machine. Consistency outweighs perfection in this arena.

5. Implementing and following systems so your business runs on automatic. This is ESSENTIAL. As entrepreneurs we quickly learn there is only ONE of us. Even with a virtual team, we are our business. If you do everything you do each time it comes up, your economics are tied to two things: your presence in the business and how fast you can implement. A great example is that I was evacuated during the San Diego 2007 Firestorm. During that time not only did I make sales, but I also knew that my orders were being fulfilled. Systems work!

6. Charging what you are worth and get it. This involves taking a deep breath and doubling your rates with your clients. It then involves taking another deep breath and tripling them. There are some things to figure out like how full is your current practice and when do you double or triple your rates, but when you package products and services appropriately, there is tremendous relief. It also takes the mindset of knowing that you deserve the rates you charge and most often it is a huge area for entrepreneurs to step out of their comfort zone.

7. Learning the art of delegation and releasing control. Taking that first step toward a virtual team is a huge struggle for new entrepreneurs when money is tight but you need to free up your time to do what you are best at doing. If you accept now that you can't do it all alone while becoming a millionaire let alone a multimillionaire, your life will be a whole lot easier because you will start building a team for delegation. My suggestion is to try it for 30 days and if it doesn't work, you can go back to your old ways. I don't know anyone who has.

8. Using performance metrics to objectively analyze your business successes and challenges that need to be overcome. Admitting to yourself that what you're doing right now isn't working so that you can open yourself to find a path that will work is probably one of the most difficult areas for entrepreneurs. The question goes something like, "Is it me? Is it the business itself? Where exactly are things going wrong?" If you implement solid performance metrics you will see exactly where the problem lies and then you can make the necessary adjustments.

9. Generating a substantial back-end to your business through information products and methods of leveraging your income. For many, the completion of the first information product (i.e., creation, edits, formatting, graphics, order fulfillment, sales page, thank you page and customer follow-up) is a huge hurdle to overcome. A lot goes into taking a dream from initial idea or concept to completion. There are a lot of techniques (i.e., legitimate shortcuts) you can take to getting out your first information product that make it much more manageable.

10. Marketing yourself and learning the art of shameless self-promotion. This goes hand in hand with feeling worthy to step into your greatness personally, professionally and financially. The methods available to you offline and online are many, and sometimes even sending that first ezine or direct mail campaign can be quite a hurdle to overcome. Fortunately, practice makes perfect.

The good news is that with perseverance and support, you can do all of the above. Coaching is one method to overcome self-imposed hurdles faster and a good coach can really help to catapult your success, especially with a foundation in the above steps. Plus, when you feel vulnerable in your business, it really helps to have someone who believes in you a little more than you believe in yourself at that moment and helps you stretch out of your comfort zone into the new and improved you that you are becoming.

I wish I could tell you the origin of this story, in fact, I am not certain I even remember where I heard it first. Recently, I was reminded of it and truly inspired by its lesson. So please allow me to share my version (as I remember it) with you...

There was a land where there was great abundance. Everything was lush, the people were prosperous and it was definitely a Utopia. The people here were energetic and lived their lives in great prosperity. They were great artists, inventors and entrepreneurs.

But near this land, lived a tribe of giants. Real giants, many feet tall who were mean and vindictive. The giants were unhappy and lived in constant turmoil. They had very little and everything they had, they stole from other tribes. They were truly miserable. The giants were very envious of the lifestyle of the Utopians. They would spy on them and dream of having what the Utopians had. They knew that if they just had the possessions of the Utopians, their lives would change dramatically and they would be happy.

So one day, the giants decided they wanted what the people of the Utopian land possessed. They decided to invade and take everything, killing the Utopians and then possessing all the wealth, comforts, joy and peace of the Utopians..

On the day of the invasion, they were surprised to encounter resistance from the Utopians. They had assumed since the Utopians were so peaceful, they would never attempt to fight the mighty giants.

The giants were outnumbered and more importantly, outwitted at every turn. Eventually, the Utopians lured the giants to the beautiful lake which was the center of the land. At this point, the giants were hit by a barrage of stone which forced them all face down in the water. Remarkably, every one of the giants drowned in the lake.

After the battle ended, the Utopians proceeded to walk into the lake and pull the giants out. But wait, did they WALK into the water and not take boats? Yes, at its deepest point, the water was only 4 ft deep. The entire tribe of giants drowned in only 4 ft of water!

So what is the moral of this story? If you are in the habit of thinking big, you will always stand up and press on, but if you think small, not realizing your own personal ability, you will accept your defeat and drown!

Do you know you are a giant? There is a giant inside each of us. What differentiates our giants from our Drowning Giants is our ability to make choices. We have dreams and aspirations that should drive us to excel. Remember the drowning giants were miserable creatures who saw no joy in their lives. But we know how to find our joy.

Standing up simply means responsibility. Responsibility for our lives, our results, our future and our joy. It means to identify our options and to take action. It means to claim our success and our results.

Why do so many people in our society fail to identify their options? I believe it is because we live in a society of fear and limiting beliefs. Just listen and watch. You will hear it in almost everyone you know and almost everywhere you go.

Most of us were raised with "Who do you think you are?" or "Life is not easy" or "You can not have what you want, you only get what life brings you" and on and on and on. When I hear these things, it makes me think of the giants and the glup, glup, glup of them drowning in 4 feet of water.

Someone very wise told me once "Don't be content in living in a small little coupon clipping life." This was some of the most powerful advice I have ever received. He was talking about being a giant. Standing up and claiming my life. About not settling but by striving for as much as I could cram into a lifetime.

We are inadvertently taught in our society that "everything will be okay if we just think a little smaller than the next guy." NO, IT WON'T!!! Stand up and THINK BIG.

In fact, Think Huge and expect Huge in your life. You will only get out of life what you expect, so make it BIG.

You will never outperform your own self worth. If you see yourself as small, then you might as well accept your small results and drown in your small world.

But if you see yourself as a giant and Stand Up for a Big and amazing life, that is exactly what you will get. Do you think anyone who was ever successful in sports, music, art, or even business did so by accident?

No, it was because they saw the giant within and made a decision to not drown in pathetic decisions and actions but instead live life extraordinarily.

We ALL have this option available to us. So stand up and claim it today!

You may ask yourself if you will have enough money to keep your business afloat during those first trial months. Another huge challenge may be to target, attract and retain customers. These are just a few of the worries that may enter your mind as you pursue the path of an entrepreneur. The greatest hurdle to overcome is in making certain that these worries do not stand in the way of your business goals. Before taking that first step toward starting a new business, you should look at the bigger picture over the long term. If you are an expert in your chosen profession, then folks will go out of their way to seek your advice. Sometimes those contacting you will be competitors, sometimes they will be sneaky little government regulators nosing around and other times they will be legitimate questions from folks who really believe that you are the best person to ask a question of.

Being retired from the Franchising Sector (CarWashGuys.com), I surely get more than my share of contacts and questions from emails. Indeed, I am well aware that many of them are folks using trickery and have justified their lack of ethics in some way to themselves. So, being as that is a known factoid, I approach the answers to such questions in a different way. You see, even if they are up to NO-GOOD, I turn it around and turn it into something good.

What I do is this, I turn all their questions into articles and put them online for everyone. If they are competitors, then their questions are now online for everyone to learn from. If they are regulators playing games or sneaking around wasting my time, I turn this into a positive for all, by spreading information to consumers, the exact job that regulators should be doing themselves, rather than wasting our tax dollars snooping around.

Now then, recently someone from Louisville KY asked me about the mobile car washing sector thru an email and thus I told him that:

I will answer these questions with my policy, that I will use versions of your questions as Titles of Articles that I will put online to help others with similar questions so they can find these answers on the Internet when typing in these questions.
