Reach Your Goals Through Visualization

on Thursday, 26 August 2010. Posted in Goal Setting

There are different ways on how you can do visualization for prosperity and confidence

By Nelson Berry

They say that a man without a goal is a person who does not know how to live. Virtually everyone believes that they are born for a purpose. However, goals are not enough. What is even more important is you do something to reach them. You accomplish them. Otherwise, they remain to be wishful thinking.

This is the part where things become quite hard. Your objectives can be quite difficult to reach, especially if you are bombarded with a lot of challenges. In fact, many would confess how they are always working against the tides, which will compel them to quit and just stop dreaming.

Whether you like it or not, there will be plenty of problems along the way. Moreover, the more you feel their presence and intensity as the more you persevere. Nevertheless, there are ways on how you can soften their impact, make them more manageable, and find it much easier to attain your goals. One of these is through visualization.

How to Do It

There are different ways on how you can do visualization for prosperity and confidence. A lot of people do utilize devices such as mp3s to help them develop excellent visuals. They also come with subliminal messages or affirmations, as well as very soothing music to help you calm down.

Here is an example of what you can do:

Imagine yourself climbing up golden stairs. Each of the steps represents the goals you want to achieve in life. It can be something short-term or small such as owning a house or a car to something very huge and grand such as opening up your own business, having a family, retiring in a country you love the most, or even forgiving someone or getting rid of a particular kind of fear.

While you take every step, you pause for a moment and say one of your subliminal messages, for example, "I will earn $5,000 a month next year," "I will own and drive a red sports car," "I will meet the lady of my dreams," etc.

You take each step until you reach the highest peak. There, take a deep breath and allow the success of each step you take to fill you up and make you feel victorious.

Now if you can go back to the example above, you will notice that the subliminal messages used are very specific. This is highly important since you want to address the things through the visualization, in this case, your objectives or goals.

You also do not have to push yourself into cluttering your mind with as many goals as you can. If you want to, you can focus on a single objective for certain duration or until you are able to fulfill it.

It also helps if you develop your own subliminal messages, since you are the most perfect person to know what is best for you. Needless to say, you can make use of the special devices we talked about earlier for some inspiration.

Tips on How to Set Goals That Are Achievable

on Thursday, 26 August 2010. Posted in Goal Setting

Set your goals, write your goals down, look at your goal every day, have a goal

By Natasha Jane

Set your goals

You have probably heard these bits of million times before. Unfortunately many of us, even those who have worked out what we want in life, still fail to set ourselves goals, or if we do we fail to check our progress against our listed goals on a regular basis. Without a goals there is no direction. Without direction there is no fulfillment.

Non-tangible goals

One of the biggest mistakes that many of us make is to set ourselves goals and dreams that are not tangible. The problem is you cannot reach out and grab or smell this type of goal. They are feelings, emotions and with emotions come surprises. Feelings are just like emotions, that go up and down. In some sense, they are very difficult to control as they are really at the mercy of what is happening around us instead of what we are making happen. Feelings come and go. Money comes and goes even success goes up and down.

Tangible goals

What you really need to do is set your sights on tangible goals so that once you have reached them you are able to enjoy them. In that way, there will always be a sense of accomplishment. Every time you look or touch that particular goal, you will fully appreciate your effort, your sweat and hard work.

Another mistake that we make when setting goals is that we do not aim far enough. We are often guilty of setting goals that are too easy to achieve. This is fine to get ourselves started, but ultimately we need goals and also dreams that will allow us to be pushed further than we have ever been pushed before. If this is achieved, it will force our thinking and actions on to a new level. We constantly need to be pushing ourselves. Sure you can have others around you who can push along but if you can be the driving force in achieving those goals, then the degree of satisfaction you feel at the completion of the dreams will be worth the effort. The reason being you will know it was you who go you there and no one else.

Goal Setting - SMART

on Thursday, 22 July 2010. Posted in Goal Setting

Your goals must also be Realistic. That is the same as Achievable right? No!

Goal Settings - SMART

By Ray Kingston

We begin with S. S is for Specific. When setting your goals make sure you, and everybody else know what they are. Examples of specific goals are 'to lose 5 pounds' or 'to increase your bench press by 10kg'. Goals that are not specific are 'to lose weight' or 'to get stronger'. If you don't know your final goal how do you know when you get there?

All goals set must be Measurable. There is no point having goals that you can not physically see or judge. A measurable goal is something that deals in percentages, weights or, at least, you can count. Taking the above example 'to lose 5 lbs' as a measurable goal, we can see that 'to lose weight' is not.

Are your goals Achievable? Make sure they are actually attainable. Always set small goals to lead to your ultimate goal, this will help you no end in reaching when you want to be. An example of an achievable goal is 'to increase your squat by 10%' or 'to decrease your 5km run by 5%'. Some unachievable goals are 'to double your squat in a week' or 'to run 5km in half the time'. It all depends on the individual but you, yourself, know what is achievable or not.

Your goals must also be Realistic. That is the same as Achievable right? No! Can you realistically achieve your goal in a certain time-scale? If not, then your goal is not realistic.

You Must always set a Time-scale for your goals. If you fail to specify a time or date by which you will complete a goal, you will fail to meet your goal (The famous phrase 'If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail' comes to mind). Once you have decided on a time-scale, stick to it! Don't move it, forward or back, as this will give you feedback for future goals set. If you met your goal early, you know to give yourself less time in future, or to aim higher. If you didn't meet your goal by the time set, you know to give yourself longer, or be more realistic in the initial phase.

Not meeting a goal may not be down to your goal-setting procedure though. It could be down to many things such as illness, injuries, weather conditions, or lack of effort on your part. Always take these into consideration when re-evaluating your goals and accomplishments at the end of a training programme.

You may have noticed that a lot of the above principles overlap. That's what they are there for, to ensure that all aspects are met so that you have the best chance possible to meet your goals and targets. Whether it's fitness, health or even professional goals, SMART is by far the best way to plan, prepare and set your future targets.

Fear of Goal Setting - Why Set Goals?

on Saturday, 17 July 2010. Posted in Goal Setting

First of all consider why you want to have a goal.

Fear of Goal Setting - Why Set Goals?

By Noelyne Jones

Do you have a fear of goal setting? Have you set goals in the past that did not work out how you wanted? Are you disheartened as a result? Or maybe you are afraid to set goals in case you fail and you know how awful that feels so end up staying safe instead. Some people are afraid to set a goal in case they cannot handle the success so they put off setting the goal and keep putting it off. Do you procrastinate when it comes to goal setting?

Do you even think about it? Most people do not and that is OK so long as you are not bothered what turns up in your life and who you are, what you have and what you do. So I am in the yes goals are good for you school of thought.

First of all consider why you want to have a goal. What is your reason for wanting to be, do or have whatever it is? Your Reason Why. For example, you want to overcome your fears. Great! A really positive desire. However, why do you want to overcome your fears? Why is this important? What will it give you? When you know exactly why you have set the goal and if it is a compelling reason then you will take the action require to achieve it. For example, you want to earn more money because it will pay for the education of your children. You want to overcome your fears so that you can get a better job or start your own business and have the lifestyle you deserve.

You need to know where you want to end up so that you will know when you have got there. If you are not bothered about where you end up and when then you do not need to set a goal. It is about being able to measure how well you are doing and if you are not moving forward fast enough then you can decide what else you can do. One of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey is Begin with the end in mind. What is it that you want to achieve? If you want to be more confident, think about what this means. What will you look like? What will you be saying? How will you feel? What will you do differently when you are confident? Once you are clear about what the end goal means then you can start to work out what steps you need to take to get there.

In the business world it is about having a Vision or mission statement and breaking it down into objectives that will get the organisation to where the leaders want it to be. All objectives need to be linked to the higher purpose and each individual needs to work on tasks that will achieve their objectives and ultimately the company goals.

In a survey of University graduates it was found that 3% had accumulated more personal financial wealth, over a 20 year period, than the other 97% of the class combined. The only difference was that the 3% had written goals.

Even if you know that setting a goal is a good thing to do that will not stop you from worrying about how you will achieve it. Those fears about how you are going to get to where you want to be take over and you end up doing nothing except worry. Your own thoughts limit your success. You need to get into the habit of forgetting about the how, establish what you want to achieve and then trust that everything else will fall into place.

I am interested to know your experiences of goal setting so do let me know,

Enjoy the process of life,

Why is Goal Setting Important? The Top 15 Reasons

The root of all success is goal setting - knowing what it is that you want.

Why is Goal Setting Important? The Top 15 Reasons

By Gwen Brannigan

The worlds' leading coach, Tony Robbins, always says you have to have a big 'why' or 'reason' if you are going to achieve any goal.

Well you also have to have a big 'why' and 'reason' for sitting down and setting goals in the first place!

You probably know that the world's most popular way of setting goals is to use the S.m.a.r.t. goals acronym. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time- based). What you probably don't know is the full extent of the benefits you can expect to receive when you set smart goals.

Here are the top 15 reasons why you should use smart goals to help you set your goals.

  • You will move away from the vague 'shoulds' and 'wishes' of your life to a life where you get clear on what you really want, create well formed goals and generate the motivation to make them happen.
  • You will learn to always start your thinking by asking yourself what is it you really want.
  • You will have a framework of simple proven questions to help you think your goals through thoroughly.
  • You will ask yourself the questions that people who are already successful ask themselves.
  • You will focus your mind and concentration.
  • You will end up with your own set of crystal clear goals.
  • Having crystal clear goals means you will increase your chances of achieving them.
  • You will be able to engage your subconscious to help you achieve your goals, now it knows where you want to go!
  • You will get much more out of life.
  • You will learn and do things you have never done before.
  • You will want to develop new skills so that you can achieve what it is you want
  • You will seek out new information and knowledge to help you achieve your goal.
  • You will broaden and develop who you are as a person: Your confidence, Your motivation, Your tenacity.
  • You will build new beliefs in yourself and start to know just how much more is possible.
  • You will make a difference to the lives of others & perhaps
  • You will even make a difference to the lives of your community, country or world as a whole....

I suggest you tick the reasons above that particularly appeal to you. One or two may stand out or indeed it may be many. The more the better...

The root of all success is goal setting - knowing what it is that you want. Now you also know why your decision to set goals in the first place is so important too.

Goal Setting - Easier Than You Think

on Tuesday, 13 July 2010. Posted in Goal Setting

Passions and dreams are realistic; winning the lottery is not.

Goal Setting - Easier Than You Think

By Bruno Logreco

Working towards a goal is something most of us do regularly. We may not always be aware of it because we associate goals with the 'important stuff': the career ambitions, the major investments, the exercise regimens. We equate goals with the catchphrases and clichés that make the prospect of achieving them so intimidating: effort, hard work, sacrifice, going that extra mile, giving 110 percent. The truth is we already put the exertion into achieving goals on a daily basis, blissfully free of the intimidation that casts a shadow on our major targets because we are not conscious of the effort involved.

The simple act of going to work every day is a goal in our unconscious mind because we established the objective the day we started the job: get to work on time. We factored in the length of time it takes to commute to work as well as the length of time it requires to get ready and tend to any other personal responsibilities - goals in themselves! Based on this information we developed a plan and performed according to it. The reward: a regular wage.

We have even proven our ability to establish long-term goals -targets that take up to two or three years to achieve. Do you remember when you earned your driver's license? I do. It was twenty days after I turned 16. A significant amount of planning took place before I reached that landmark age. The process from the first time I drove a car to the moment I was fully licensed took about 2 years. How long did you prepare before you got your license? How bad did you want it? How successful were your efforts?

What about the first time home buyers laying claim to their own little piece of the world? Are they goal oriented? You bet they are. They know exactly how much they can afford with expenses and how long it will take to save for a down payment. They then save and track their progress until they reach their goal. The rewards are a new home, a new life, a milestone of independence.

If we have already proven how easy it is to reach our goals, why is it so difficult to take the same formula and apply it to the things we dream about: our passions? The answer depends on how badly we want it. How burning is our desire? How are our lives affected if we DON'T achieve them? How are our lives improved if we DO?

Without your regular salary, where would you be? Would you be able to survive comfortably? Chances are you wouldn't, so you make sure you do everything it takes to keep it. What does a driver's license represent to teenagers? Freedom, independence, adulthood -explains why most of us are successful in securing one. What about the first time home buyers who didn't have a penny in savings before planning to buy a home and now own one?

Still not convinced? Still need that extra little push; that nudge to set you on the right path? Simply follow this easy formula:

1. Set a goal. Be realistic and make sure you have a burning desire. Passions and dreams are realistic; winning the lottery is not.

2. Commitment. You must apply the equal amount of commitment to your goal as you would to your full-time job.

3. Natural talent and skill. Everyone possesses a talent and one or two natural skills. Using your natural abilities to achieve your goal will make your life so much easier in more ways than you can ever imagine.

4. Determine the time frame. Do your research and determine how long it will take you to save, learn, or to get into the new career you dream of.

5. Plan for success. I am not talking about a detailed business plan. It could be as simple as a road map with directions from points 'A' to 'B'. Establish a route similar to that of becoming a Team Lead, to Manager, to Director, and so on; up the ladder until you reach the rung you seek.

6. The more you give the more you get. Be nice to others and share some of your wealth because if you do you will gain even more.

It really is that easy. You already prove your success on a daily basis, so take that success and make it grow. Your own growth will quickly follow. And no intimidation is required. Take that mountain and make it a mole-hill and you will be surprised how easily you will reach your plateau, raise your fist in the air, and shout "Victory!"

You already prove your success daily now you are ready to shout "Victory!" visit http://www.brunoloGreco.com and meet with Bruno LoGreco professional life coach, Toronto mentor, author & television personality and start living the life you were born to live.
